Atlanta Miniature Society's 31'st Anniversary

Stopped by the show,It is the first one for us.There was a great bunch of people to meet and we had a great time. This was a very diverse group that collectively had enough information and expertise to literally help me fill in the blanks about  anything I needed to know.
There was a fantastic exhibit  with awesome pieces on display from some of the vendors and artist at the show.

Being able to see these very detailed works of art face to face was really exciting. One of our favorite pieces is by J P Sligh. entitled -The Witch's Kitchen. It was so detailed with so much to look at.This is very inspiring  and mostly if not all handmade.Loved the show.Such an educational experience and so much tremendous craftsmanship and artistry in one place.

17 + room 1 inch scale dollhouse

More  on the progress of the house. She's going to be big.I know that for some people who do not have the room for large furniture sized mini mansions this would be way too much, but for whatever reason I decided to start big.Still have to put the roof on and the We can bring her inside to make the pretty up on her.

Creepy Dollhouse

In the process of adding the second floor. It really is starting to look interesting-looking through the windows and imagining what could be going on in there.I like this floor plan-lots of room and functionality. This seems to work for me because it is all coming from my head, not working from any plans other than the one in my mind and a basic floor layout on some graph paper.

Front of dollhouse

Very open and spacious design.A central hallway layout makes this miniature house more accommodating for 1 inch scale furniture.

Front and back sided dollhouse

Now we have a pretty good idea of how massive this dollhouse will be.It's roughly 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 feet. Each story will be 10 inches tall.Three stories with a gabled roof will make it almost four feet high. There may be slightly bigger dimensions in some of the kit models, but I have never seen an entire house that will have the function that we have here.

how to cheat building dollhouse walls

When there is an area That cant be reached with a clamp, some heavy weights can work really well. That's 50 pounds worth of pressure - plenty for pressing that corner down.

Building walls for your dollhouse

Use an engineers square to keep everything square and plumb during each step.

Houseworks component numbering system

It will be very helpful to match and label all components to their corresponding holes.

the usefulness of a dollhouse window template

On the back of the package you may find this template. It is very accurate - so I just transfer the measurements onto the walls, then scrollsaw them open.

dollhouse window detail and installation

If using 1/4 inch MDF as I am here,You will notice how the fit of the window will need to be adjusted with some filler strips. The inside of the frame needs to be flush with the interior wall surface.

Have tons of clamps

I clamp as much as i can-everywhere I can.I will go back after the glue has dried and reinforce joints with wire brads. Its okay to try them in but don't start gluing them in yet.

Scroll saw

Cut out the openings for the components.Make sure to dry fit them before gluing anything.

Work from your drawing

I reference my drawing and begin laying out the components on the wall board, getting them just right.
