Have tons of clamps

I clamp as much as i can-everywhere I can.I will go back after the glue has dried and reinforce joints with wire brads. Its okay to try them in but don't start gluing them in yet.

Scroll saw

Cut out the openings for the components.Make sure to dry fit them before gluing anything.

Work from your drawing

I reference my drawing and begin laying out the components on the wall board, getting them just right.

FRONT BASE

Here is the base for the front half of the dollhouse. It is also the first floor.

Lay out walls

Transfer from graph paper onto wood, bringing it up to 1/12th scale

Check the fit of the components.

I can see things in my mind more clearly and can then make any adjustments needed to the floorplan.

Creating a workable floorplan

The easiest way for me to lay out a plan quickly and not end up getting lost in the details is to just draw each floor on graph paper.
Reduce the scale accordingly to fit on paper, this will help keep your design in proportion.Plan where the doors and windows will be.
Once you have it worked out an are satisfied-order your components unless you plan on making them all by hand.I have the skill to make my own components and did consider it but that's a lot of time and labor.Instead I ordered them to save myself a lot more time and effort.
Before I do anything else,I wait until I have the parts in hand.It would be better to check the dimensions with the floor layout physically as not to have cut wood only to find out a wall is too small for a window.

Preparedness and Precision are important

Working in 1/12th scale means mistakes will be huge in proportion to a project. One very slight miss-measurement will only multiply quicker and end up really not looking right. You could get away with 1/8th inch off in the real world, but in the scale of one inch-that's more than an inch and so on.
I would suggest dedicating a set of measuring tools for your house and only use them. The difference between a tape measure and a steel ruler will make problems if you were to use them both. You need to have precise and consistent readings.

Hello and Welcome to our Virtual Studio!

Having wanted to build a Dollhouse for quite some time,I have decided to start off our blog with the process.
The dollhouse/Miniature world is a vast and magical realm ventured into by many.Anyone with an Imagination can "live" there. It is one of the top hobby categories enjoyed by all sorts of Creative Imagineers and one could even consider it to be the first and more tangible version of modern virtual reality worlds.
I have made many attempts in the past to take on this daunting project. It requires as much serious effort that I can throw into it-as well as documenting every step and "Blueprinting".
This time around-I have all the confidence required to build a unique custom Mini Mansion from the ground up.
Join me in the process as I intend to take you through all the steps to making a custom Dollhouse.
